“From My Heart To Yours”

On March 24, 2018, Saint Francis held its Junior/Senior prom “From My Heart to Yours.” It was a night to remember. Everyone was dressed up with their dresses and tuxedos walking around the ballroom taking pictures. Prom doors officially opened around 6:00 pm and ended at 10:30 pm. Food was provided, along with two free flip books and desserts.

The process of getting ready for prom is not an everyday routine for everyone. Some students stress a lot about getting ready and looking good, but some get ready and put themselves together no problem.

Junior, Kylee-Lei Bednar says, “It was intense but worth it. I love the feeling of people doing my makeup and hair.” Senior Koby Gerboc-Chun says, “The process was kind of stressful, just because, for a girl, there’s so much to do. It was also fun to get my hair and makeup done.” Junior Jesus Garcia says, “There was no trouble and it was pretty easy.”

Food and music was a big part of prom, along with the dancing. Bednar says, “The best part about prom was the dancing. It was fun to dance and sing with friends since it only happens 1-2 times a year. I try to have as much fun as I can.” She made memories on the dance floor as well. She says, “All of us were in a little circle dancing to music and singing to the top of our lungs. It’s fun and I love doing it, especially with friends.”

Gerboc-Chun says, “The overall experience was really great, especially as a senior. I’m sad it was my last prom, but I’m glad it was my last because it was a good time with friends and getting all dressed up, having time to enjoy our lives instead of worrying about school.”

My old school did not have dances or get-togethers. I did not know what to expect. When the day of prom rolled around, it took me about three hours to get ready. I did my own hair and makeup, but Igot my nails done a few days before. The food and music were pretty good. I thought it was pretty fun overall and I can’t wait for next year.
