A Spook-tacular Season

Get ready everyone because the leaves are finally falling and it’s officially spooky season! People all around the world are preparing for the festivities coming up during this fall season, especially Halloween! This creepy, spine-chilling event is not a holiday, but that does not stop people from going all out for the one day that is Halloween. On October 31st, children and adults will dress up in costumes and go Trick-or-Treating to earn free candy.  While others remain easy going during the October event, people such as sophomore student Nevaeh Asuega go all out for Halloween. “My family and I put pop-up ghosts outside of our house and decorate our front doors with fake cob webs,” she says. Other people like Junior Shayna Au are not as festive. “I just like to chill.” says Shayna.

This year, Halloween falls on a Wednesday. That is also the day of our annual October assembly. Many people at Saint Francis, including the faculty and staff, dress up in unique, ghoulish, and hilarious costumes.

All students, grades K-12, go down to the school gym to watch and participate in the costume contest. The costume contest is a competition where students dress up and showcase their costume. Guest judges decide who has the best costume. There are three categories that the judges will base students on. These categories are “horror,” “funny,” and “unique.”

Every year Saint Francis never fails to show. Don’t forget about the pumpkin competition, too; where people compete to see who has the most creative pumpkin.  Put your own spin on it and be as creative as you want to be. Halloween is meant to bring out the creativity of your mind and to become something that you envisioned for a day. This Halloween will definitely be one to remember.  Have a spook-tacular Halloween!
